Most interesting comment I've heard about the iPad (might as well bite the bullet and start using that horrible name) is that it's another step towards making us consumers, rather than originators, of content. I've certainly noticed that I'm posting less since getting an iPhone, and, as noted everywhere, LJ seems to be pretty quiet. I still check in as often, or more, to read my flist, but on the notebook I'll add my own entry, but on the iphone I won't...

I think the iPad is better considered an entertainment device than a productivity device. It's communications features are suited to interactivity but not high-level communciations. I don't complain about the inability to reorder the sequence of channels on my TV set, and most people I've heard who are really jazzed about the iPad are not especially techy. They want somehting that they can leave on the coffee table without worrying whether their kids will wipe out that critical spreadsheet for work.

I'm off to post about this in a minute, but I think we're agreeing here - it's a device for consuming, not creating content.
