As I Stepped Out One Winter Morning...
Feb. 17th, 2010 07:52 am...I was bloody freezing. Ice on the cars, and a freezing fog. On the other hand, it was light enough to take Merlin walking down through the park. He flushed a couple of ducks from the mill lade, and, just as I was wondering if I'd see the heron at the weir, a heron. Lovely to watch it unfold itself into the air... (in case you're worrying about Merlin worrying birds, don't - they were all in the stream, and he was on the shore, where he stays. He doesn't even chase squirrels these days. Much).
Sorted out my Lenten observance as I walked along. I'll keep up the not eating sweet things as a passive sacrifice, and undertake to do five pieces of 30 minute exercise per week as my active offering. I don't actually believe that sacrifices and offerings go to any deity in particular, so if you want to dedicate them to your God of choice, feel free. For me it's sort of like collecting the Tesco schools vouchers and putting them in a common purse. No extra effort on my part, and a small good done elsewhere.
I seem to have sorted out my sleep debt with two early (well, pre-11) bedtimes, by the way, which is why I'm able to blog this early, and step out with a little bit of bounce...
