Back in the basement

Back in London - a bit unexpectedly, but the sun is shining and I'm underground. Maybe it's just me, but the streets seemed quieter coming in, there was no queue for taxis, and the buses looked a lot emptier. I'm glad to be here, though. The plane had my favourite approach to Heathrow, over the Dome and then up-river, with a glorious view of the Mother of Parliaments. I felt quite protective of the old place, a real change from my Angry Young Man days, when I wouldn't have given you a thin dime for the whole city. They still wouldn't let me off over Green Park, though. Next time I'm packing a parachute...
