I have been officially lurgied. I was carrying a cold for about a week or so, dosing myself up on Lemsips and numerous caplets, and thought that last weekend would give me a chance to shake it off. No. Last weekend gave it a chance to move into my chest, causing baleful gurglings and expectorations of pavement shattering impact But still, I am Man, the mighty, and that wasn't going to stop me going to work on Friday. And it didn't. I had a lovely day of spluttering and wheezing and choking fits. When I woke up with  a crushing hangover yesterday (despite not having had anything to drink) I thought "enough's enough" and retired to bed. "A day in bed will give me a chance to shake it off", I thought, and went to bed at 10 o'clock. Five hours later, I had a whole new appreciation of the meaning of the words "gastric flu".

So today is another duvet day, with my fingers crossed that THIS time I will shake it off. I haven't opened my work lap top, I've been out of the house once (to pick up some milk) and I'll be in bed early again.

It's fairly annoying because, apart from anything else, today will mess with my 10,000 steps per day streak, which was up to nine in a row. I've also suspended the 5:2 diet, until I'm recovered. When I checked yesterday (before the gastric incidents) my weight was around 14 stone 10 pounds, or about 11 pounds down on where it was a month ago. This is good news, since my initial target is to lose 10% of my bodyweight, or 22 pounds, and it's nice to be halfway there (not coincidentally that will put my weight under 14 stones for the first time in... a long time.

I just have to accept that part of being human is having a body that's heir to nature's ills. And hey, it's an excuse to sit on the sofa and watch some tennis.

I thought - oh god, I've not been walking as much and I missed out 1 aerobics and 1 swim (of my normal 1 aerobics and 2 swim).
Still lost. You might be surprised. Well done on getting under 15 stone.

You're swimming twice a day and doing aerobic exercise as well? You have my awed admiration.
