I accidentally hit my Tom Waits playlist at the start of my drive from the cottage to Glasgow today. There's 64 songs on it, and I really had to struggle to pare it down that far. Everything from American Gothic (Murder in the Red Barn) through sleazy romanticism (Somewhere) to what I still consider to be the ultimate Cyber-punk song (Shoreleave).

So instead of highlights of my weekend in Arran (beautiful) and Kilmartin Glen (old. Very old) you get the wit and wisdom of Mr Waits:
