Half an hour till Lent starts, and I'm helping my pancakes digest with an 18 year old Highland Park. After which it's goodbye to teh wiles of da booze and the cocoa bean until Easter (my birthday excepted).

I seem to have arrested my weight gain just south of 16 stone, and turned back down again. I do want to be under 15 by the end of March, just as I was last year.

Lets see...

Do you want to have a diet race with me? I used to do them with my flatmate and they realy work.

I'm all for it - what are the rules?

Well. The way we used to do it was, we got a bit of graph paper and pinned it up on the back of the bathroom door. And we basically plotted our weights on it every day for the length of the race, usually 2 or 3 months, long enough to make a difference but short enough not to get bored with it.
We would have a weekly winner, and then a big winner at the end, for the person who lost the most weight as a % of their starting weight. It got quite tense and competitive.

In the absence of a shared bathroom door, I'd suggest an Excel spreadsheet in Google Documents.... KO tomorrow, final weigh in on Easter Saturday. Prize??

right have set up

1) new closed LJ community called greatdietrace, to which I shall post the daily graph.

2) a new Google shared document spreadsheet so we can all enter our daily weights on it. Alas Google spreadsheets don't have graphs on them, hence 1). Don't forget to enter your starting weight tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a plan to me - should we do it on absolute weight loss (in which case I have an advantage, having most to lose) or as a percentage of body weight?

And does anyone else want to play?

Prize?

Hmm...

A bottle of SMWS malt?

Percentage definitely, it's the only way if competitors are different heights and genders.

I thought a bottle of malt as well, but then I thought, possibly counter productive????

Malt is better for weight maintenance than ale, at least...

Good luck. I am 8hr 50 min. into Lent. This year it's dairy, eggs, and meat, which on reflection means all the junk food I like except fries, which I never make at home.

I guess I am accidentally dieting for the Lord.

I don't mind the Lord not having anything to do with it, since I know he'll be quite happy if I keep healthy. Being an agnostic is great fun.
