This time I'll stop watching Braveheart before the end...

Better yet, stop watching before the beginning.

That's what I was going to say. Who needs another Gibson snuff flick.

Hey, at least he doesn't come back in this one...

Yep, that's my take. The only time I have seen B-Heart was while in Brazil. It was still in English with subtitles. But I was so busy trying to read the Portuguese I hardly saw any of the film.

That might be the way to go with this movie...

I'd like to do that. I want to be a farmer, not a soldier. Ah doant waant to dee, bit...
(turned it over now, don't worry)

Actually, I'm now watching "The Weather Man" on the other side, and wondering why no one ripped the piss out of Michael Caine for his "American" accent in that one...

I haven't seen that one. Would you recommend it, aside from the accent?

Hey, I don't need the trauma before bedtime.

Oh, I totally agree. I had, unfortunately, just read the reasonably graphic description of what is actually done during the 'hanged, drawn and quartered' process in a Diana Gabaldon book before the first time I saw Braveheart.

It was the only time I saw Braveheart.

*shudders*

of course, on reflection, I realise that a Scot might find it traumatising in a totally different fashion.

*chuckle*
When I saw the movie for the first time, I just jumped out of my seat at the end and shouted "Freedom!".

Pity I was in Newcastle at the time...

LOL

Hopefully everyone was out of popcorn at that point in time?

One would think, however, that it would be possible to find a nice, brawny Scot to play a nice brawny Scot, and not have to import long-haired nutters with pretty eyes.

Don't be fooled, though. I'm a sap, and aside from the sheer horror of the ending, was quite moved by Braveheart. Then again, Liam Neeson in a kilt did good things for me too. Ok, I'm a sap, and easy. :D

Agreed on Liam Neeson. I liked Rob Roy much better. I know he's not Scottish either, but he's huge, gorgeous, and most critically, can act.

It's a nitpicker's dream film.

I remember someone, I think it was William Goldman, saying "That's why we call them the Movies, not the Realies."

Aw, but "sane and reasonable" is such a boring approach to films!

While you watched Braveheart (or not) I was watching Andy Murray comprehensively beat Nadal at the US Open Semi Final.....I'm really chuffed for the lad but it's just a pity he has the personality of a door post!

That's why I'd switched the TV on in the first place, to try and find the game - I eventually gave up, and didn't know he'd won until I read your comment at 7.30 - yay for Mr Murray. At least we won something this weekend...
