Ok, so some parts of the nation are buried knee-deep in snow, but I'm getting a bit of a spring vibe going on. Sunrise is now a smidgeon before eight, and sunset only just before five, so I'm now seeing the odd bit of daylight unmediated by an office window. So that's good. My fitness campaign has slowed down (only three visits to the gym this week, and I'm drinking during the week again) but I'm still losing the 2 pounds a week target that I set myself in the first week of January, and events are starting to pop up in the social calendar that say "rebirth" to me.

I'm off to watch rugby today, the Vogler Festival dates have been announced (and we might just get to hear them play on Wednesday) we have a trip to Aberdeen coming up, and I'm trying really hard to get dates sorted out for a Prague visit in April.

Mikey and I are also in the first stages of planning an adventure in August.

The Spring Seasonal Dialogue is at the end of the month - it does seem that, against all expectations, this Winter is going to end...

Wait, are you a.. a.. a GUY? I mean, a man? I'm so used to my LJ and online life being almost entirely female that it takes me a while to figure out when someone isn't one. A woman, I mean. Once I friended a person whose comments I liked and I told my daughter that there was this person and I couldn't figure out his/her gender. Then later I told her that I'd figured out it was a female, because of the word choices and the warm temperature. He was a gay guy, it turned out. Then after a few months he came out again, as a woman pretending to be a gay guy. So I was right about the word choices after all.

*chuckle* Yup, guilty as charged. I'm never sure what I come across as, espescially in comments, but I'm pretty much your basic, co-opted instrument of the patriarchy (despite my false consciousness as a feminist).

If it's any help, I'd assumed you were Scottish, from your choice of a feisty aristo with a portrait in the Scottish National Gallery as your user pic.

Nope, although on my mother's side, Irish, many generations back. I don't know anything about Lady Agnew. Scottish aristo? That's interesting. I chose it as an icon because when I was in college that portrait was on the cover of a Henry James and several times people told me that it looked like me. Only, of course, much more beautiful.

I assume your user name has to do with chess. Favorite opening or best moves evah?

To be honest, I don't know much about her beyond the label on her portrait - I was captivated by her eyes (now that you mention it, I remember the book cover too).

Yup, F4F3 are the first two moves for White in Bird's Opening - P-KB4, Kt-KB3, in old money.
