Yes, I'm playing with the wi-fi again.
It seems to be quite well behaved this morning, somewhere between dial-up and broadband speeds, and quite useable.
The view this morning is stunning: lovely sunshine, blue skies. I've just passed through Alnwick, and I'm looking forward to the sweep into Berwick on Tweed, which can be spectacularly beautiful, a long viaduct over the Tweed and a view down to the sea with the old town framed on the left.
Apologies to anyone I haven't caught up with this weekend: I've been more or less out of touch since Thursday afternoon, but back on line now, courtesy of modern miracles.

Ain't it wierd that you're more connected on a train than in Argyll?

It was more that I didn't have time to sit down by myself all weekend - I was either travelling, with family, or on the beach at Clachan, mistaking seal snouts for dorsal fins.

Well, at least you had fun!

Now did I say that? *g*

Nah, the seals were definitely fun. And the golf.

That is a great bit of railway line - in fact, most of the east coast route is worthwhile - but past Newcastle it is glorious!

It was espescially nice this morning - almost made it worthwhile getting up at 5.30...

OMG, you have an association with Glasgow. And Kilmartin, and Irn Bru, and square sausage...I'm sorry, I was intrigued by the icon and clicked to learn more.

OK, just thwap me now. It's clearly the day for it.

I never thwap on the first date. I mean, I don't judge anyone who does thwap, you understand, but personally, I don't thwap.

Well, when I say I don't thwap, I don't mean that it's never happened. Sure, I'm not proud of it, but I'm not trying to hide it or anything. That would just be silly.

Why am I still at work again?

PS: Hello.

Very wise indeed.

I'm trying to place the island in that photo, and I can't, although I'm guessing somewhere off the west coast of Scotland near Skye.

And I saw a passing reference to Rogano's - I'm sure 20 years ago that place still wasn't as good as it used to be. But I'm way out of touch, worse luck.

And hi back again. Pleased to meet you.

I think it's Gigha. Or Jura. Maybe Islay. Definitely round that way. Rogano's was fab, leading me to wonder what it was like 20 years ago, or 30, or 50.

Pleased to meet you too - and if you were 14 when Anarchy in the UK came out, you're not older than me...

Hmm. Gigha rings a bell. Isn't Jura all pointy?

If your userinfo is correct, I'm a wee bit older. I'll friend you back but you need to be warned: slash, fanfic, and indeed Harry Potter devotion all lurk within my f-list...oh, yes.

Fair warning *g*. You're right - Jura has the Paps, and you have to wonder who ever thought they resembled breasts...

Oops, that came out arsey - what I meant was, I really like your journal so I'd like to friend you back; and if you missed the passing references to fanfic etc etc, then I needed to point them out now. In the light of your recent post.

*digs hole a little bigger*

Not too arsey - I've often complained about the lack of an irony key, but I'm pretty hard to rile. And your interest in Fan Fic, along with AJ's, is one of the things that prompted the post.

Aye. Well. AJ. There's a thing.

She's a very good writer. I nearly met her once but somehow I really don't think that's going to happen now...

There are a couple of really good guides to LJ-based fandom - I'll pass along the links.

Links - clicky goodness with none of the calories.

I think AJ is entirely entitled to take whatever tone she likes in her journal, just as I do in mine, and if I don't like it I can bog off.
